How do I remove the foam from old headliner that is still on when I remove old material?

To remove the old foam left on the headliner board from the headliner material once its removed - a brush would be the quickest and easiest way. If you have one of the stiffer more resilient headliner boards (in most of the newer vehicles); a wire grill brush or something like this will work fine, and work efficiently. If you have an earlier model car or truck (before 1995 or so) with a more fragile headliner board; you may want to use a soft bristled brush like a tire cleaning brush or bathroom brush for the job. Either way the bristled brush is the safest and best way to go. It takes some doing, but it is the safest way to go. In a few extreme cases (like one of those Dodge Ram headliners :\ -- we have used a drill equipped with a round wire brush. The brush below is what we sell for cleaning headliner boards.
