How do you remove the sunroof and recover the material on it as well as the headliner in a 1998 Jaguar XJ8

How do you remove the sunroof and recover the material on it as well as the headliner in a 1998 Jaguar XJ8L? Is it something for the 'average ability' person to undertake?

The sunroof on the Jaguar XJ has to be removed in order to recover the slider cover for the sunroof. It is no easy task to remove the sunroof, the tracks need to be taken loose at the front so the roof itself can be removed before the inside cover can be removed. To say it's easy would be a lie, but it can be done if one is patient. There is a mounting block at the front of the sunroof track that has to be taken loose in order for the roof itself to slide off the track. It has 2 screws on each side, once these blocks are loosened, the roof can be slide off the tracks; and so can the portion that is covered with headliner (and then of course the headliner portion can be recovered). Once the cover is removed, one can see how to recover the inside cover. Trial and error will apply with something like this for a novice.
