I'm trying to take down my headliner in a 1994 Buick Century Custom Edition so I can replace it...can't figure out how to remove my dome light assembly

I'm trying to take down my headliner in a 1994 Buick Century Custom Edition so I can replace it. I almost have all of my trim down but I can't figure out how to remove my dome light assembly. This dome light does not have screws or prongs holding it in place. Instead there are two rods with washers. Do you know how this is supposed to be removed properly? Please help!

PUSH ON RETAINER

A small to mid sized headliner kit will fit the 1994 Buick Century

[ANSWER]    Those 2 washers are called push on retainers or push nut retainers, they push on a small pin that goes through the dome light assembly; and usually have to be broken to come off - they are a one way street that is meant to go south, but not north. But.... they don't cost very much and can be bought at about any parts store. We send 2 of those little retainer washers with all our headliner kits. Some cars use them and others have screws or just pop in and out, but some have the retainers and the little retainer washers are what you need when you run into them.

We always had a good supply of these little retainers at our trim shop, it was always easier to break them with pliers and use new ones than trying to get them off without breaking them. But, if you will use pliers and twist and pull gently, you may be able to get it off without breaking it, then you can pinch it with the pliers back to it's original form and use it again.
